I, P. P. Lake, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner as following: that is to say, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Cora A. Lake, all of my estate, that is to say, I want her to have and to hold as long as she remains my widow, all of my estate, but I want my debts paid as fast as she can although at this date the debts is (sic) but little. Then I will each of the 5 children one dollar each, namely Eva, Arley, Netta, Lora, and Clay, with the understanding sif Clay never gets back from the war, his wife is to get his dollar. And in short, I advise that she make sail (sic) and sell all the things that is not needed on the farm.

CORA A. LAKE
JUNE 29, 1920

I, Cora A. Lake, of Barbour County, make my will as follows: Hereby revoking all former wills.

Item 1: I nominate and appoint Delbert C. Lake as executor of this will.

Item 2: To my said son I give and bequeath all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and character, except as otherwise hereinafter provided.

Item 3: To my son Arlie B. Lake, I give and bequeath the drills and drilling tools used by my late husband, Pleasant Lake in the business of drilling wells, wherever such tools may be found, and to my said son Arlie B., I give and bequeath all the money I may have on deposit in any of the banks of Philippi at the time of my death, and in addition hthereto a two horse surrey and a one horse buggy now in use on the farm, and one red cow and two sheep.

Item 4: I give and bequeath to my five children to share and share alike two acres of coal owned by me in Barbour County in the Riley Poling farm, being the same parcel of coal conveyed by him to my late husband Pleasant Lake, and by him devised to me, the said children being Nettie Stalnaker, Eva Posten, Lora Booth, Arlie B. Lake and Delbert C. Lake.

Item 5: My home farm consists of 111 acres, one parcel thereof is known as the Zebulon Lough tract of 33 acres, and this tract, subject to the sale of the coal already made, I give and bequeath, share and share alike, to my three daughters, Eva Posten, Nettie Stalnaker and Lora Booth.

Item 6: To my son Delbert C. Lake, I give and bequeath the rest of my home farm, locally known as the Ephriam Jones tract, and I charge the same in his hands with my maintenance and support, according to my station in life, on that farm and in his family, if the same shall become necessary and I choose so to do and I am willing to trust myself with him and his family, and gladly bear tribute to the fact that he has been a dutiful and considerate son, and that with him I hope and expect to spend my declining years, and for this reason I feel at liberty to make the more generous bequest to him than I may appear to have made to my other children, who are older than he and who have farms and homes of their own, and to this son also, I bequeath all the farming implements, machinery and tools not herein otherwise disposed of, with any livestock I may own at the time of my death, which I may not have given to others of my children, and I give him also the residue of my estate wherever found, and of whatever kind.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name to two typewritten sheets of paper, this 29th day of June, 1920.

WILL OF A. B. LAKE - MAY 10, 1934

This the 10th day of May 1934, being of sound mind, I make my last will and testament to my wife, Neva A. Lake.

It is my wish that all my personal property and real estate to go to my wife after all indebtedness is paid, and a monument erected. In case she should marry again, I desire that this property should remain in her hands for her support alone if needed. Then what is left at her death if any, I desire 1/10th to go to the Silent Grove Baptist Church if it still exists, if not, then to the New School Baptist Association. Then I desire 1/3rd to go to Clay, my brother, if he still be living. If not, then all to be divided equal among his children and my sisters, or their children. I desire my wife to be buried by me.
