LARENCE FRANK LAKE:
Clarence Frank was born at Valley Falls, near Fairmont, West Virginia. Ruby was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Tomlinson Israel.

As a young man, Clarence read law, but changed his mind and decided to study electrical engineering at Milwaukee School of Electrical Engineering, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Shortly before graduation, his health failed (a ruptured appendix, which was almost fatal) and he was unable to complete his work. He had to work, support a family, go to school and study. He became head electrician for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He trained men in his work and became highly regarded as a teacher.

He and Ruby were married in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. About 1923, he moved to his father's farm at Brydon, near Grafton, West Virginia. He raised prize White Leghorn chickens along with the usual farm animals and garden crops. His uncle, Homer Lake, a bachelor, did most of the chores. Clarence Frank drove to and from his work in Grafton in a sporty Maxwell touring car. At the time, he owned half interest in a service station in Grafton.

He died of a circulatory ailment. He was a member of St. John's Methodist Church of Grafton, West Virginia.
