CHURCH, GUTHRIE, ARCHER, and BURROUGHS
Early Green County records show a George KIRCK, (Kirk, Kerkle are other variations of the name.) He is believed to be father of:
Henry CHURCH Jr., born January 20, 1779, married 1.)Jane ARCHER, who was scalped by Indians, but survived. He married 2.) abt. 1817 Sarah RHINEHART, whose first husband was Thomas INGRAM. Their son, Rinehart B. CHURCH, born May 29, 1822, married Charlotte GUTHRIE December 6,1842. Their son, Rinehart B.(Hart) CHURCH , born April 15, 1865, married Florance B. Burroughs December 21, 1889.
This family is believed to have migrated from the German Settlement in Frederick County Maryland to Green County, Pennsylvania.
CRIDER and MCCAIN
Daniel CRIDER born 16 August 1839 married Lydia Ann MCCAIN, born 18 October 1843. Their marriage date was 29 September 1863, and their children were Virginia Isobell, William Austin, and Essie Iola. They lived in Greene County, PA
HOWDEN, TAYLOR, MCGILL, WENRICH
Andrew HOWDEN was born about 1757 in Ireland. His wife was Margaret TAYLOR, of Caven Co., Ireland. They are buried near Bealsville. Their children were James, Jane, Mary, John, Ann, Margaret, Andrew, Thomas, and William. According to a Washington County history, when they immigrated about 1789, they lived for a short time in a hollowed tree. Several generations forward, my great grandfather, Ray HOWDEN, born 1886 of James F. HOWDEN and Margaret Ellen McGill, married his second of three wives, Dorcas WENRICH. I know little of her and her family, except that she supposedly remarried, and lived in Lake Champaigne, New York. The HOWDEN family lived primarily in W. Bethlehem, Washington County, PA, but some also lived in Greene County.
MITCHELL, HORNER, SHAW, MORELAND, and LEWIS
Joseph W. MITCHELL, born about 1851 in Tennessee, married Mary Horner born about 1846 in Perry Co. TN. They married in Barry Co., MO December 12, 1870. Their son, William Calvin MITCHELL, born 03 November 1871, in Missouri, married Julia Adelia MORELAND, born abt 1877. Julia Adelia MORELAND and her parents were all born in Georgia. Their daughter, Myrtle MITCHELL married Guerin SHAW, born 04 July, 1894 in Texas. Guerin's parents were James Leroy SHAW, and Catherine (Kittie) LEWIS. James was born in Georgia and Catherine in Texas.
RINEHART, GODFREY, LUSK, LAUE
George RINEHART was born in Tazewell Co., VA circa 1770. His father was supposed to have been killed by Indians during the Revolutionary War. His wife was Hannah,or Anna SIBERT. They had children Polly, Betsy, John, Jane, Matilda, and Hugh T, and possibly others. Hannah died in abt 1816-17, and George remarried June 1821 to Patsy Nuckles. Hugh T. RINEHART, born 1813, married Juliana (Julina) GODFREY November 24, 1833 in Tazewell Co, VA. They moved to Union Twp., Auglaize Co, Ohio about 1836. Their son,Arnold P. RINEHART, born abt 1836 married Rebecca HARROD, born about 1839. Their children were Rebecca Alice, Arnold Emmett, Martha A., Hugh E., Frank Lee, Willy Otto, Edna, Levi, Edgar, and Fred. Frank Lee RINEHART married Clara Elmeda LUSK 15 September 1888. Their children were Bessie, Arnold Frank, Chester Wallace, Jessie Dean, Ida May, and Esther Delight. Jessie Dean RINEHART married Cornelius LAUE about 1919. They were my great grandparents, and we know nothing about his family. I know he was born abt 1897, in W. Virginia, his parents were born in Ohio, and that he died abt 1936 from tuberculosis. Can anyone help with more information about him?!!
SIMPSON, CRIDER, and COOPER
John SIMPSON, born 10 April 1810, married Amelia COOPER born 25 October 1827. They were married 05 March 1863, and their son was Theodore SIMPSON. He married Essie Iola Crider, listed with the CRIDER family. This family was from Greene County, PA.
