UPdate Feb 2011
To my Granddau Libby
I am so sorry you have to go through such a hard time the last 5 weeks that I have decided to make a dedication on my home page in your honor to help other parents and grandparents learn about this awful disease you have been fighting.
We love you

Symptons of a rare disease called HSP (shortened) so far my 9 year old granddau Libby has had to endure over the last 5 weeks
This disease usually strikes children ages 2-11 and it is so rare it attacks some 20 kids in 100,000 and rarely in Adults
More common in boys than girls there is no known cause and no known cure it just has to run its course and usually treated by the symptons themselves and they kids sometimes have a reoccurence as well.

Severe bouts of vomitting on a continous basis
Blood in both urine and stools caused by they say the disease effecting her stomach and intestines
Severe Arthritis like pain in many joints
Can not walk or stand at times becuase of severe pain or swelling in legs and feet
Severe weight loss, constipation and diarreah
different pokes from needles to insert Central Lines, Pick Lines and numerous IV's sometimes not working becuase of collasped veins
Chicken Pox like bumps but much redder in tint some spots even look like she has been severly burned
Usually this does not spread above the waist but hers is everywhere including her mouth, throat, ears, arms, back and stomach.
Severe infection in intestines and stomach that put her in isolation for a few days
If this disease spreads to kidneys it can be life threating
She has spent a little over 3 weeks total in the hosp in the last 5 weeks with stays at home in between

Most Severe case of HSP that Docs in Wichita Falls TX and Fort Worth Cooks Children's Hosp has ever seen of this disease
