research on Lamey, Parker , Lee, Schonewitz and many more

Updated January 4, 2003

Mamie Louise (Lamey) Bissonette

I have been researchin my Lamey ancestry for many years and have gotten quite far. I have found that back in the old days the name Lamey was spelled in many different ways, even in one immediate family of father and children. I am pretty sure that this is due to the lack of education in the past. I believe when a baby was born or baptized the doctor or priest just wrote the name down on the documents the way it sounded to them and that is how we ended up with so many different spellings of the same name. Lamey, Lamie, Lammey, LaMey, Lamy, Lami, Lamme, Lame and probably a few more spellings that i cant recall at this time. I am also researching my mothers side of the family and have not had very much luck there and would appreciate any help that i can get from any one that has information on my grandmother Jewell Edna Parker (lee) Her parents were listed on her funeral record as Joseph Parker and Dallas Walters. Jewell Mostly went by the name Edna and was born in 1912 in Biloxi, Mississippi and died in 1955 in Biloxi, Mississippi. She is buried in Lee cemetery in Poplarville, Mississippi next to her first husband who is a Lee> I am also interested in The Lee side that Jewell was married in to because that was my grandfather.
