* The Lampert-Baskt-Axelrod-Tossman Families*

Updated July 13, 2010

The family information originally on this page was initially gathered by Shirley Ruth Lampert (nee Axelrod) in the 1990s and placed on this site shortly after her passing in July 2003 in memory of her strong devotion to family. Below you will find an interactive family tree with material for four family branches (Lamperts, Baksts, Axelrods/Resniks, and Tossmans/Myerhoffs). After an absence of six months, this tree was restored here on July 12, 2010. The original tree had approximately 500 listings in 2003 (mostly Tossmans and Axelrods). Currently, it contains over 800 family members across nine generations.

The original tree on this site was donated in 1995 to the Douglas E. Goldman Genealogy Center at Beth Hatefusoth (the Museum of the Jewish Diaspora) in Tel Aviv, Israel. If you are in Tel Aviv, you can visit the Center to see how this tree links with other trees donated to the Museum of the Diaspora.

Finally, special thanks go to several family members and one family friend for the original developement of this tree and its subsequent updates. First, to Penny Harris, Diane Rote, Goldie Rodman, Lois Landsman, Albert Kirwan, and Betty Van Praag for their assistance in the 1990s (and after) on the Maryland and New Zealand branches of the Tossman family. Subsequent thanks go to Nathan Rosen for his recent information on the Tossmans of Australia and to Gracen Carroll for his updates to the decendents of Samuel and Fannie Tossman (and for the newly created Tossman Family Wikipage at tossmanfamily.wetpaint.com). Many thanks to Seymour Lampert and Abe Bakst for their information on the Lampert and Bakst branches and to Eva Poliakoff Goodman for her information on the descendants of Elka Axelrod Poliakoff. And finally, a very special thank you to geneaologist Nancy Holden for her help to recover the Resnik family tree, compiled by Debborah Portnoy Copeland. The latter contained the descendents of Zalmon and Pesia Resnik (parents of Rachel Beile Resnik Axelrod) and was a welcome addition to this tree.
