Notes for A
BRAHAM LEMASTER:
Colonial Maryland records states that Abraham settled in western portion of St. Mary's County Maryland which later became Charles County.
Tradition has it that Abraham left France when King Louis XIV revoked the edit of Knaves, which had established legal toleration of Frances's Protestant population, The Huguenots. It is rumored he had to flee France to keep his head. This research was done by a distant cousin in Kentucky, Ann Applegate.

We think of Abraham as the first generation of our family in America. Apparently from all indications he was not married when coming to America, and came as an indentured person, and was given land after 6-7 years. Abraham prospered and In 1663 we find Abraham on Two Hundred acres of land called "Betty's Delight", lying in St Maries Co. Maryland.

Our branch of the LaMasters migrated from Maryland, to Va., then to Ky. Our branch, Francis Marion , then traveled to Arkansas shortly before the Civil War. When our Francis Marion LaMaster was shot, and killed during that war on July 07, 1862 his wife, Rosanna Fanning brought their two sons, William J. and John Buchannon back to Ky. through the "Cumberland Gap", by Jolt Wagon. After the death of their mother from "consumption" we find the boys in the home of Rosanna's sister, Rebecca (Fannin) Blair, reported in the 1870 Carter County Ky. census. William was listed as 13 yrs and John Buchanon as 10 yrs. We next find William located in what is now, Fayette Co. & Kanawha County, West Virginia.

Some sources on the "World Wide Webb" informs us that Abraham was first located On Ste. Marie's Parish, Isle of Jersey, before he was found located On "Betty's Delight" in Md. More research will have to be done in this area.
