When the town council decided to move the ferry dock from the west end, Lambie led a campaign to halt movement of the dock. As the result of his efforts, town council allowed the Ferry St. dock to re-open.

He was posted overseas and arrived at No.3 RCAF PRC Innsworth, Glos., England on June 11, 1944.
