Descendants of John Landers

Generation No. 4

13. REV. ISAAC4 LANDISS (WILLIAM3, JOHN2 LANDERS, JR., JOHN1)47 was born 28 Dec 1788 in Granville County, NC48, and died 7 Apr 1867 in Carrollton, IL48,48. He married ESTHER KING 21 Mar 1811 in Mecklenburg County, NC49. She was born 178350, and died 14 Jul 186950.

Notes for R
EV. ISAAC LANDISS:
Moved to Bedford County TN about 1811, but found that he did not actually own a land grant which he thought was his.

Joined General Andrew Jackson in a war against the Creek Indians Sept 1813. Struck by glancing blow from arrow on side of head, losing a piece of scalp and getting a permanent bald spot.

In 1816 moved to Crawford County IN.

An "Isaac Landiss" is listed in the Washington County, Indiana census of 1820. The spelling of his name, and the information concerning children, are consistent with this Isaac. Since the name was spelled "Landers" in the War of 1812 records, the family must have adopted the spelling change between 1812 and 1820 - possible about 1816 when they moved to Indiana.

In 1827 moved to Carrollton, Greene County, IL.

In 1835 granted 40 acres of land by President Andrew Jackson.

Methodist Episcopal preacher.

His wills dated 1857 and 1866 are in the files of Daniel Jay Landiss.
