----------

From Carroll Hayden:

When George T. moved to Tennessee Augustine was about 12 years old. Augustine remained in Granville County with his older sister, Rebecca Landis, who was to marry and did Thomas Hester. Augustine was to have gone west to join his father, but did not.

Leon Yancey was on his marriage bond.

In the Francis B. Hays collection the children are listed in this order: Augustine, Martha Anne, Virginia C., Frances, James Y., George, Charles E., Cynthis, Mary, Maria.

He was a saddler as late as the census of 1850, although he had been elected coroner as early as 1840. From 1848 to 1868 he was clerk of the county court. In later years the court was abolished by a new constitution, after which Mr. Landis was deputy clerk of the Superior Court until his death.

----------

From Roger Rice Landers:

About the George W. Landers MD as a son of Augustine. The 1850 census of Granville Co., NC does not give George as a son. This man is in the Francis B. Hays Collection, in Granville Co., NC. Although I have not seen it, may have several errors. (Work in the 1930's, 40's and 50's.)

All children except the 6th were on the 1850 Bedford County, Tennessee census and Alexander and Martha were living with Dorothea in Rocky Bayou Twp on the 1860, Izard County Census. Alexander is listed in the 1860 Izard County Census in Rocky Bayou under the name of SANDERS. His will is on file in the Court House.
