Batesville Daily Guard, September 17, 1946: Jeff Hayden Landers, aged 65, father of Earl Landers and brother of Mrs. P.A. Billingsley, both of Batesville, died at his home in Melbourne today at 5 a.m. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Landers was a prominent farmer and merchant and had operated Landers and Company Mercantile Store in Melbourne, which recently observed its 69th anniversary in business. Funeral services will be in the Melbourne Baptist Church at 10:30 Wednesday morning.

Eugene Gilliam Landers, Sr., b. 21 Jul 1902, d. 9 Feb 1981, bur. Restland Cemetery, back SW. THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 12 Feb 1981. 'Eugene Gilliam Landers, Sr., 78, of Roxton died 9 Feb 1981 in a Paris hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, 12 Feb in the First United Methodist Church in Roxton with the Rev. Walt Marcum officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Steele and Thomas Funeral Home. Mr. Landers was born in Roxton on 21 Jul 1902; one of 17 children born to John Franklin Landers and Catherine Jenkins Landers. He married Louise Solie in Houston on 19 Nov 1927. He attended school in Roxton before attending the Metropolitan Business College in Dallas. He was employed with Concrete Pipe Co. in Houston. He was a dairyman in Roxton for 15 years before becoming a salesman for Paris Typewriter Exchange in Paris. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roxton and the Masonic Lodge AF&AM 543, also in Roxton. Survivors include his wife; one son, E. G. Landers, Jr. of Roxton; one daughter, Martha Bone of Paris; one brother, Dr. Jack B. Landers of Amarillo; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, John S. Landers in 1974.' *Tombstone is inscribed, 'E.G. Gills Landers.'
