Bennie Ray Landers of 817 N. W. 1st died at 3 PM Wednesday, December 29, 1976 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 4 pm Friday, at the Leverett and Steele Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Landers was born September 25, 1909, in Lamar County, a son of the late Joseph Sim Landers and Maude Evaline Sims. He married Martha Jo Spangler on February 16, 1955, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He had lived all his life in Lamar County and was a plumber. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of Paris; four sons, Fred Wayne Landers of Fort Worth, and Danny Landers, Gary Landers and Bennie Landers, all of Paris; two step sons, Larry and Jerry Spangler, both of Paris; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Inell) Hull of Irving, Mrs Kenneth (Dorothy) Hughes of Paris and Miss Brenda Landers, also of Paris; three step-daughters, Mrs. Jim (Glenda) Cunny of Paris, Mrs Merl Johnson and Mrs. Billie Jean Elliott both of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mrs. Johnny Hope of Los Angeles, California; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one niece.

'Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Jo Landers, 52, 817-NW, who was killed with her mother, Mrs. Ora Spangler, in the tornado Friday afternoon, will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest McCool officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Landers was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Clarksville, a daughter of David S. and Ora E. Spangler. She attended schools at Bagwell and Detroit and married Benny Ray Landers on Feb. 15, 1955. He died Dec. 29, 1976. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Glenda Fulton of Hope, AR, Mrs. Dorothy Larkin of Paris and Mrs. Brenda Dibble of Paris; five sons, Larry Spangler, Jerry Spangler, Danny Spangler, Danny Landers, Gary Landers, and Benny Landers, all of Paris; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marvin Bennett of Dallas and one brother, David I. Bellflower, Calif.--Johnnie Eugene Landers Hope, 83 of Bellflower, Calif., was escorted by angels to be with her Father in heaven July 15, 1998, in Woodruff Convalescent Center.

She is now rejoicing with her husband Russell Hope, who showed her the way through death's valley.

She was born to Joseph Sim and Maude Evaline (Sims) Landers March 17, 1915, in Noble, Texas. She lived a full life giving herself unselfishly to her family.

She retired from Globe Ticket Company. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her sense of humor will be missed but not forgotten by all who loved her, especially her daughter and son-in-law Delores and John Murchison, and her grandson, Martin James Murchison, of Bellflower. She also is survived by her nieces and nephews, Fred Wayne Landers of Fort Worth, Danny Landers, Larry Spangler, Jerry Spangler of Paris, Gary Landers and Bennie Landers of Shreveport, La., Dorothy Fisher of Yantis, Texas; Nell Hull of Paradise; Brenda Dibble of Paris and Glenda Fulton of Emmett, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 1998, at the Lighthouse Family Church in Paris, with Gary Landers officiating. Her ashes will be placed with her husband in Fulbright Cemetery following the service.
