Notes for Emily (Emma) Dukes: Some people believe she was a gypsy. She always seemed to be in a pinafore & hair net. Few teeth. Always working. It is said she had a mean temper & few in the neighborhood would challenge her. (Might have been the gypsy in her?) She enjoyed her ale. I can remember, along with other members of my family, going to the local shop to get her a Mackeson Stout. She used to drink Porter prior to that. Uncle Albert can remember Grandad, his Dad, sending him to the pub to bring Nan home as she would usually be a little inebriated.
