The Langley Family Genealogy Report

Updated March 10, 2004

Welcome.
Contained in the following you will find a brief history of The Langley Family from England. Traced from Scaldwell in Northamptonshire all the way to Hawaii & Australia, they have spread far & wide. Compiling it was a rewarding experience for me & I hope, an enjoyable journey for you.

After years of Uncle Albert & Aunt Flo talking to us kids about Castle Ashby in Northamptonshire & sharing their experiences of same, I decided to conduct further searches & got the genealogy bug along the way.
For several years I have lodged myself in various records offices in England, sometimes for days at a time. Talked to various people while investigating the family & seen many interesting places. It has opened my eyes incredibly to the family past & of course, come up with many, many regrets as well as disappointments.
All of this while living in California. Of course, I couldn't do it when I lived in England could I? That would have made it too easy.
I had no idea I would pine for the family past while growing up in my Grandfather's house in Coomassie Road, a wonderful old house deep in the heart of Paddington. I was always curious about the knick-knacks in his front room, but that's as far as it got. DAMN! Now I have to play catch-up.
While being a member of a very large family, it is now with regret that I find most of my informed relatives are gone to that castle in the sky. That makes research a little tough.
Nevertheless, with the start that Uncle Albert & Aunt Flo gave me I am plodding onward & upward realising all the time that I am truly lucky, just to be a part of the wonderful history of this family. The Langley's.
