| This home page is the genealogy for the McKinney, Johnson, Douglas, Daniel, Daniels and Humphries families in Florida during the 1800s and 1900s. Originally from North and South Carolina through Georgia they eventually settled in Florida. The names found in the family tree are STARLING, NIX, HUMPHRIES, LANGMAN, MULIVOR, BROWN, JOHNSON, BARBER, DOUGLAS, DANIEL, DANIELS, HUNTER, CROCKER, MORRIS. The locations are Alachua County, Columbia County, Collier County, DeSota County, Lee County, High Springs, Chokoloskee Island, Everglades City, Naples, Hawkinsville, Ft. Myers, Naples and Arcadia, Jacksonville, Florida. and Abbeyville, Alabama, Decatur, Danville Ga. Our maternal great grandfather is C.G. McKinney who lived in and around Columbia and Alachua Counties in Florida. Our maternal grandfather was Charles Christopher Johnson who had two brothers (Mack & Miner) he was born in a lumbertown at the edge of the Ocala National Forest (Hawkinsville, Florida). Our families span the entire south and C.G. McKinney was one of the original settlers in Florida's Ten Thousand Islands and was known for his down-home humor & wit as a weekly writer in the American Eagle (which was then published by Northern newspapers). On the Douglas Family it spans 3 centuries of history from Lee County, Florida to Dorsetshire, England. |
