9. OSCAR F.⁷ STONE (BENONI⁶, WILLIAM⁵, WILLIAM⁴, WILLIAM³, JOHN², HUGH¹) was born May 21, 1833 in Scott, Pa., and died April 03, 1879 in Hawley, Pa.. He married ALVIRA LUCY MITCHELL September 12, 1855 in Salem, Pa., daughter of ELI MITCHELL and MARY MOTT. She was born December 16, 1833 in Clark Summit, Pa., and died May 05, 1904 in Scranton, Pa..

Notes for OSCAR F. STONE:
The Oscar F. and Alvira L. Stone monument hopefully can be seen in the Eddy Cemetary in Hawley, Pa. Also buried there are Lucy M. Stone, Chauncey H. Stone, Arthur K. Stone and probably one or two others. According to Earl G. Stone and Esther Stone Casey, this cemetary has fallen into terrible disuse and neglect. In 1964 Earl wrote to the local Hawley nespaper, the Pike-Wayne Eagle, urging them to begin a campaign to restore this historical site. Apparently his plea fell on deaf ears, so it may be difficult to locate the Stone family monuments. (Nancy Daniels Cooper, 1996)
