This page is a culmination of 40+ years of genealogical research efforts by my self. It has truly been a Labor of Love for me. I enjoy it as much today as I did when I started. I put it online to preserve my database for future generations after I am gone home to the Glory Lane.
My research began in the mid 1960's after my young son started asking questions about my family that I had no information on. I only knew one grandmother and she died when I was 10 years old on Nov. 28, 1949. I remember loving her dearly.
My first research efforts were started in the downtown Fort Worth Library. I had some of the best genealogy teachers in the state, including the librarian in the genealogy department. I was young among many older ladies, all of whom took an insterest in me, because I was so young. They all deserve credit for teaching me the basics. Then there is my friend and mentor, Weldon Hudson, who also guided me in later years and gave me a lot of encouragement to continue my research and to apply for Certification. In 1985, I became a CGRS which I held for 10 years.
The families I have done the most research on are; 1)Christoph Ferdinand Greiner, born 1816 Lauscha, Thuringen, Germany and died in Paris, Texas. 2)Elijah Brazzil Stinson, Revolutionary War Soldier, Indian Fighter and wanderer, died 1835 in Evansville, Indiana. He was buried in the old Evansville City Cemetery, which was closed and all the graves were moved except his, to make room for progress. His bones were found in an alley about 1939 when the city was making room again for progress. I have a newspaper clipping to this effect. 3)Jospeh Paschal Ashmore who was a builder of fine carriages. he died in 1860 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 4) John Steadman continues to be my "elusive" ancestor. He was born in Hill county, Texas in 1857 and died in Jan. 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas. 5)Joseph Claunch born in St. Clair Co., Alabama died in Johnson Co., Texas. 6)Greenberry McCowen of Chambers Co., Alabama and died in Johnson Co., Texas. Many other lines are included in my database. I hope that it helps someone who is building their family tree and is related. Most of the research is mine, but many people have generously shared their family information with me.
