My name is Virginia Rose DiPilla Lane and I am the dauaghter of Paschal Joseph DiPilla and Florence Rose Orico DiPilla. The Date to day is November 11, 2005.
I guess I will start at the beginning both of the familys came from Italy. The DiGiacomo's Isernia Italy and the DiPilla's Campoobasso Italy. The Orico's came from Calabria Italy.
My Fathers Mother's family came to the United States in the late 1879. I have not been able to fine out how they got from Italy to the USA. On what Ship and how and where did they land God only knows.
I only know that they ended up in a small town in SouthWestern Colorado the town of COMO Colorado. My GrandMother Mary DiGiacomo was born there in 1883 and that is where she met my GrandFather Vincenzo DiPilla I have no record of how he came over to the USA I only know he stoped in Penn. and worked for I belive some thing to do with Coal or Trains. He then went to Como and worked at the Round House for how long I don't know but until they shut down the family moved to Louisville Colorado where my Father and his Brothers and Sisters were born. My Grandmother died on September 4,1931 and my Grandfather then moved to Denver and raised the 5 Childrean alone living on Bryant Street. My mother came to Denver to be with her sister to help her with her family because she was ill. They lived on Beach Court in Denver right behind the DiPilla's. My Mothers Mother Sophie also died in Denver visiting both of her daughters on September 16, 1931.
That is how my Mother and Father met. There was a Catholic Priest by the Name of Father Andrew S. Demichino S.J. who was stationed at Cration University in Lincoln Nebraska he would say Mass at the Parish Church where they went to church in Omaha and they became very good Friends. He then was transfered to Regis University and met my Fathers Family and became friends with them not knowing that my Mothers Sister lived right behind them on the next street. Of course very soon they would all met and of course on December 31, 1933 Paschal Joseph DiPilla married Florence Rose Orico at Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Where Father Demichino S.J Married them and Baptized the Childern Mary Sophie DiPilla Cleese Virginia Rose DiPilla Lane and Rober Paschal DiPilla. Father was then transfered to Mount Carmel Church in Pueblo Colorado. Where he died on September 3, 1954. He was a woulderful Man and I Loved him very much. He was a great piano player and composed several Songs for us kids and made an album for me of all the Songs he composed. He also taught my mother how to play the piano. My sister Mary was influnced by him and his music. She went on to College and studied Music and played the Piano and Clarinet which our Grandfather Orico played. I learned to play the piano but went on to play the Tenor Sax, Our Daughters Michelle and Andrea both played the Saxophone Michelle played the Tenor and Andrea named after Father and my went on to College and Studed Music she is now in the Colorado National Guard Playing in the 101st Army Band. And now Michelle's oldest son Jacob is in High School and Playing his Aunts Alto Saxophone and going to start Jazz Band this Year. Also Michelle's youngest Son Caleb in learning the Trumpet. And doing a good job with it. So as you can see Music played a big part in the family.
As time goes on I hope the Girls and the Grandsons keep this family tree going for all future childern of the Family.
This is just a short story of what was told to me by my Grandfather and Mother and Father. To all that will be receiving this I hope you all add to the story. What ever you all remember and then share it with us.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
