• Descendants of John Vaughn (116 KB)
  John Vaughn was of German descent. I have no information on his parents, or siblings. He was married twice, and had a daughter named Minerva by his first wife. His daughter, my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Vaughn was born in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois in 1857. After that he lived in Missouri, in Perry County, and Ste. Genevieve County that I know of. I don't know when or where he died, or the name of Minerva's mother.
• Descendants of Cornelius Neglaus Johnson (126 KB)
  Cornelius Johnson was my ggg grandfather. There are a lot of stories of how he came to America from Germany. I'm not sure which one is correct but the one I heard all my life was that he was a stow-a-way at thirteen years of age. Whether he changed his name because he couldn't speak english or just used the captains name is unknown. I have reason to believe that Ann Tucker was not his second wife either. Maybe someone reading this knows the answers and will let me know.
• Descendants of Chelisler Underwood (126 KB)
  Chelisler Underwood (one of many spellings for his first name), was born in North Carolina. He married about 1813. His children were born in Maine and Kentucky. I don't know when he moved to Madison County, Missouri, but he stayed there for the rest of his life. Most of my Underwood information comes from Michael Miller. Thank you Michael!
• Jean Baptiste (Montreuil) Montroy (18 KB)
  Jean Baptist Montroy was a farmer and a fur trader. We are pretty sure he was born in France then immigrated to Canada before ending up in Illinois. He settled in Randolph County, Illinois like most of my fathers’ side of the family. My great grandaunt Emma Elizabeth Link married Jean Baptiste’s grandson Albert Montroy. Most of my information comes from Corinne Montroy and Tom Hollingsworth. If you can fill in or correct any of the blanks, please let me know and I will pass it along.

  This is my great great uncle Abraham and his wife Jane. They are holding two of their grandchildren, Carl and Ralph Johnson, sons of William Edward and Sadie Louella. It was taken around 1920 in Mine LaMott, Madison County, Missouri.
