| After traveling the world and experiencing many different cultures, upon my return I became even more interested in my own family history. I started by interviewing my parents who had a great deal of information, which turned out to be quite accurate. I then discovered that my great-great grandfather, Rev. Carl Meyer, had written a book entitled "My Life And Work As A Missionary," which chronicled his youth and study at a practical seminary in Germany, his travel to America, and his lifetime of establishing Lutheran congregations as a circuit-riding missionary in Illinois, Kansas and Nebraska. After finding a translation of this book, my interest in family history continued to grow. Over the years I have been helped by many family members, friends and professional genealogists. Recently I found more valuable information on Genealogy.com, and reconnected with one of my cousins. I hope that this information is helpful to my family members and others who may be conducting family history research. |
