My family came to Australia from England in the late 19th and early 20th century.

The Ward family arrived in the 1890's from London. The head of this family was Elizabeth Ward (nee Goatcher) and her 21 year old son William (my grandfather). There were 9 children in all, one of whom died on the voyage in the Red Sea. Elizabeth's husband William Francis died before they set out for Australia. Elizabeth came to join her brother Philip Goatcher. He moved to Western Australia in the early 1900's. The other children were Louisa, Edward Robertson, Fanny M., George, James, Maude, Alfred and his twin who died on the voyage.

The female branch of my family arrived in Australia the 1910's. They arrived in Australia via New Zealand around 1911. My grandfather came from Liverpool England and his name was Thomas Henry Edwards. His parents were Richard Edwards & Anne Jane Jackson.

My grandmother's name was Isabel Irene Kemp from London. Her mother (Louise Elizabeth Higgins) died giving birth to twin daughters. Her twin sister died around the age of 18 and at the same time her father (George Henry Kemp) a baker died by being thrown from his horse and cart.
