THE HOUSE OF WINDSOR sprung out of the HOUSE OF SACHSEN-COBURG AND GOTHIA for the male line, for which the orgin in GERMAN. By what reason the name was changed to WINDSOR, we really don't know for sure, because the male line of the HOUSE OF SACHSEN-COBURG AND GOTHIA did succeed to the THRONE OF GREAT BRITIAN.
The only reason we can come to think of is a wish of the royal family to appear more BRITISH than they really are, perhaps to strengthen the MONARCHY and the futher reighn of the SACHSEN-COBURG AND GOTHA line. Nonetheless, all should remember that the existing bloodline, by several females, goes all the way back to the NORMAN CONQUER OF ENGLAND, (WILLIAM I DUKE OF NORMANDY, CONQUER OF ENGLAND) in 1066 A.D.
