Jacob and John Bowser of PA and MD were in Ohio near Marietta before 1810 - In 1814 they bought land on Jonathan Creek, Perry County, OH from Geroge Nye. They lived there and died there. They were Brethren amongst a at least 24 other Brethren - living along Jonathan Creek. The group included families in Newton Township, Muskingum County, Their wives and their origins are obscure. They seem to have been related to Henry Bowser, who died in 1806, in Washington Township, MD. Four of their Brethren neighbors, George Nye, Adam Cover, Peter Ebersole and Adam Plank probably were associated with Henry or lived nearby. We have a line of Bowser descendants to the present day.*******************************Samuel Mateer was born in Dec 13, 1826 in PA. Either near Carlisle or in Chester County. He married Rebecca Shawley of Carlisle and lived in Columbus, Ohio.
