COLE & COURSON MARRIAGE INFO
SOURCE:
From Carkhuff, Roxanne K., Librarian; Hunterdon Co. Historical Society, Hunterdon Co., NJ, "COLE, Benjamin: Carkhuff Genealogy Report," Research Findings letter to Brad COLE, Annapolis, MD; 4 Apr 1998, pp 2-3.
Letter states enclosed items to BC include: "Marriange bond [Volume C, page 142] secured for Benjamin COLE's marriage to Charity COURSON, 'spinster.' The bond is dated 11 Aug 1752 and the surety is Thomas COLE, presumed brother to Benjamin. Copy is enclosed, obtained from microfilm of original bonds which are deposited at NJ Dept. State, Division of Archives."
Also -- " . . . Found only the baptism of Benjamin and Geertje/Charity's daughter Rachel, on 6 Jun 1756."
Also -- "Although the receipts are undated, the first receipt listed on the accounting of the estate was 'for cash paid on Thomas HALL and Charity his Wife late widow their dower' in the amount of 60 pounds. The final accounting was in 1770 so sometime between Benjamin's death and that year, his widow remarried Thomas HALL. Perhaps some research on Thomas HALL would be warranted. Receipts 12, 17, 21, 28, and 50 were for cash paid Sarah COLE her 'legacy.' I believe this was his mother."
