| HI! I FOUND IT! ****I got this story from Jackie Lauersdorf, her father is Otto Lauersdorf who immigrated to America in abt 1952, yes 1952 with his mother from Germany. This is their family name story: There were these tiny villages in Germany, pre Prussian, maybe around the 1200's, and the villagers were not happy with their overlord or baron or whatever he was called. Each individually tried to overthrow him, but it didn't work. So this hunter(named Lauers) got the villages together and they overthrew the baron. The people were happy and they united the villages and then named the new dorf, Lauersdorf. Which means Hunter's village in old high german And all his descendants carry the name Lauersdorf. My thanx to Jackie's Oma :) I recently have made new friends with some long lost relatives! If you are a LAUERSDORF, SCHULIST OR GRULKE you have come to the right place. My name is Sally Ann Hagen, nee Lauersdorf. My father is Lyal Roland Lauersdorf, my mother is Mary Ann Schulist, my paternal grandparents were Roland Louis Lauersdorf and Sylvia Ruth Ella Grulke; my maternal grandparents Joseph Frank Schulist and Gertrude Veronica Lukowitz. On my Lauersdorf tree, my great-grandfather was Louis J. Lauersdorf, his father was Francis Lauersdorf and my GGG-Grandfather was Ferdinand Lauersdorf, born abt 1807 and immigrated to Wisconsin abt.1848, and settled in Lebanon, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Ferdinand was presumably married twice, to Louisa Bothe/Bode and to Helena Schwefel. He was the father of at least 10 children. I recently acquired a family bible of Johan (Ferdinand) Lauersdorf b. 1837, married to Maria Louise Lauersdorf (yes, that's her maiden name, I recently found out who her parents are, yes, they were cousins). The bible lists their children and their children's godparents. It's hand-written in German. You can find copies of those pages below. I was born in Waukesha in 1959, married Tom Hagen in 1990, and I have 2 children and a stepdaughter. I have been doing genealogy for as long as I can remember. I have been taking refresher classes since 1992. I have also spoken to civic groups about genealogy and house histories. The name of my business is Sally Hagen House Histories and I can be reached at my home number. I research the history of houses, and Waukesha County history. Family surnames I'm researching are LAUERSDORF, SHULZ, GRULKE, HENKE, SCHULIST, LONSKI, LUKOWITZ, MALISZEWSKI, LISAKOWSKI, NADOLNA, DAVIDSON, BOYD or BEUGHT, NOVILLA, GREGUSKA, BERANEK, LISKA and a few more.. Our Hagen surname has been researched thoroughly. We are descendants of the Torgrim Olsen and Marte Hansdatter HAGEN family from Gran Parish, Fylke of Oppland, Hadeland, Norway. We have wonderful family reunions every three years with as many of our family that can join us! My husband Tom's Great-Grandparents Thomas and Pauline (Almli) Hagen settled in Cumberland, Barron County, Wisconsin in the late 1800's, after a brief stay in Minnesota. I am also researching a FULLER surname, Hosea being the patriarch, Elon the son and Galusha the grandson, Galusha and Martha Winne FULLER's children being Louis Fuller, Helen Fuller Kitson and Minnie Fuller Rouse. I am hoping to connect with any of these relatives of Galusha's, as I am presently living in his house! Galusha and Martha Fuller have become a part of our family!PLEASE contact me about any of these names. Most of my relatives came from Germany in the mid 1800's or later, and settled in Milwaukee or Dodge Counties, in Wisconsin. I'm hoping to add pictures, newspaper articles, and anything of interest from ANY of my relatives, no matter how distant! (Can we say obsessed? hehe) I am also available to do research, in exchange for services or information, or for a fee. If you write to me asking me about specific information on your relative, I can tell you now, unless they are directly related I won't know but will try to help. Nice to meet you :) |
