      9. Lucinda Strain, born 1838 in Ohio; died Sep 17, 1874 in Berwick Twp., Warren Co. IL, Meridian Cemetery. She was the daughter of 18. James William Strain and 19. Jane Watts.

1860 census index page 394, Floyd Twp. Warren co., IL, listed as Charles, age 24, male, farmer. The Past and Present of Warren County, Illinois page 140 lists him as being the Assessor of Floyd Twp and also a Justice of the Peace.
Marriage License (in my file) of Charles T. Cross & Lucinda Strain: "I Hereby Certify, that on the 1st day of July, A.D. 1858, I joined in the Holy State of Matrimony, Mr. Charles T.       10. Hiram Barker Hudson, born Feb 18, 1845 in Hamilton County, Cincinnati, Ohio; died Jul 15, 1933 in Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa, Bur. Morrisburg Cemetery, So. of Panora, Iowa. He was the son of 20. George William Hudson and 21. Elizabeth Barker. He married 11. Anna Eliza Delfridge Jun 06, 1867 in Panora, Iowa.

Notes for Hiram Barker Hudson:
CO.A 15 U.S. Infantry Grand Army of the Republic, 1862-1865. Enlisted at Greenbush, Iowa, Feb 1, 1862 for 3 years. "Hazel eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5 ft, 5 1/2 in. Age 18., Discharge Feb 1, 1865.
From his obituary: "Mr. Hudson enlisted as a Private in Company "A" 15th United States Infantry and served his country faithfully to the end of the Civil War, fighting in many engagements and marching with Sherman to the Sea. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he engaged in farming near Panora, which he followed for over sixty years....Hiram B. Hudson was never a politician but he was always interested in the welfare of America, as exemplified by his devotion to the Union in the trying years of the Civil War. He leaves to his children and grandchildren and to his friends the heritage of a life well spent in the interest of humanity and in the service to his Master. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Morrisburg among the surroundings of his long and useful life. He was held in high esteem wherever he went. His friendly disposition and genuine character won for him a large number of friends." Hiram B. Hudson has been certified as a Guthrie County, Iowa "Pioneer".

"An old resident of the neighborhood died at the home of his daughter in Des Moines. Funeral at Morrisburg Church and burial in Morrisburg cemetery beside his wife." Guthrie Center Guthrian Newspaper: 19 July 1933 p8c3. His daughter in Des Moines, Mary Rigler (Aunt Mary)

May 10, 2002: Guthrie County Iowa Marriage Register book 1 p.88 shows that J.A. Tam married Sarah E. Hudson July 3, 1889. Her father is listed as H.D. Hudson and mother as Ann Delbridge. This is also shown as a second marriage for J.A. Tam and the three children were born before this marriage. (Information came from Elaine Lundberg, Panora, Iowa)

This "Sarah" - notes from Pam & Bob Prine: "The following information is from a single grave to the west end of the Morrisburg Cemetery. It is near Opal MacDonald, Lily & Berthel Hudson's lot. The stone information is: Sarah E. Tam B- Feb 4, 1871 D- June 27, 1921. The date's are about right and SARAH HUDSON's Mother's name was Elizabeth (Sarah E. Tam's middle initial). Shirley Prine thinks this may be the right Sarah. We have not, as yet, been able to confirm a connection."

Funeral at Morrisburg Church and burial in Morrisburg cemetery beside his wife." Was Aunt Mary the daughter referred to in this newspaper article?

They had no children. Minnie B. Groves made the funeral arrangements for her brother, Charles Thomas Hudson. She probably also was the "daughter in Des Moines" who had her father, Hiram Hudson, living in her home at the time of his death.

      13. Annie B. Marks, born Jun 04, 1848 in Canada; died Dec 21, 1912 in Merrill, WI, chippewa St.. She was the daughter of 26. Marks and 27. unnamed.

The Merrill Advocate, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1906, Lubec, Maine: Obituary from James McDonald:
"This morning at one o'clock, James McDonald, aged seventy-six years and for fourteen years a resident of Merrill, died at his home, 403 Chippewa Street, the cause of death being a general decline of the vital powers. He was borne on the 22nd of November more than three score years ago, at Lubeck, Washington co., Maine. He is survived by three sons, and one adopted son, and ten grandchildren. His adopted son, William McDonald, who lives in Stevens Point, and a granddaughter, Viola Caine, of Neenah, will be in attendance at the funeral which will be held on Thursday from the Baptist Church, Rev. Putnam, of Grand Rapids will officiate. The three surviving sons are J.O. McDonald, George N. and Clifford N. and all are living in Merrill."

His name was changed to Clifford Nathan when he was two months old (again from VR of Trescott). He was living in the household of James Orrington in the 1900 census. He was living in Racine WI in Dec 1910 when he signed the death cert. for his mother Annie Marks McDonald.
