I am of African American desent and I have been researching my family history for the past 3 years and haven't gotten very far. I made a trip to Washington, D.C. last year to the National Archives to see if I could find information about the passenger lists on African Slave-trade ships entering the United States. I also attempted to look up my father's (Richard Lawrence) family in North Carolina. Once again, not much luck there either. I know very little about my father and am very much interested in learning all I possibly could about his family history and past.

I was born in Harlem New York, grew up in Monticello, New York and am now a California transplant.

Any information would be helpfull.
