Within the surname Ferner, my paternal family, I am researching the following surnames: Eyer, Fackler, Kramer, Kuntz, Ludwig, Paris, Ropelt, Rupp, Schulz, Spies, Stortz, Winghart and Womelsdorf. Most of these families immigrated from various parts of Germany between 1845 and 1885 and settled into Rochester, Monroe County, New York and some of the surrounding counties.
I am particularly interested in learning more about the immigration of these various families. For example, I know that my great-grandfather, John T. Ferner immigrated from Bavaria (possibly Landau)in 1852, settling in Rochester a year later and lived there the rest of his life. I believe that the Eyers, led by Franz, or Frank, arrived about 1858. I want to find out what towns they came from; what ships they sailed on; who came with them and so on, and as I turn up new information, I would be glad to share and exchange information with others.
