Notes for JOHN NEVILLE:
On May 16, 1665, John Neville of Nansemond sold to Arthur S kinner 125 acres. This was part of the deed from Roger Nevi lle to Arthur Skinner, his father-in-law.
Deeds of John Neville: In 1689 he and his wife Elizabeth ma de a deed of "gift" to Benjamin Beale and his wife Martha , most probably their daughter. The deed provided that if B enjamin and his wife Martha died without issue the land wa s to go to Benjamin Neville, son of the donor and the dee d was witnessed by John Neville Jr. date here 1689. (evdent ly spelled Neville Neuell and Neuill)

John Neville owned land in Isle of Wight County , also.

John Neville of Nansemond sold land on the Western Branc h in Isle of Wight to John Johnson in 1698. The date of hi s death is not known as the Nansemond records are destroyed . Benjamin Neville, their son held 475 acres in Nansemond i n 1704, as his son Benjamin was holding 475 acres on Nansem ond in that year and John Neville does not appear in the Qu it Rents.

John Nevil of Namsemond, planter, and Elizabeth his wife se ll to John Marshall of Isle of Wight for 100 pounds the 35 0 acres in Nansemond County , adjoining the Nansemond River , part of 450 acres granted by Gov. Berkeley March 6, 166 2 and sold by him to John Neville February 2, 1663 in Nanse mond.

On April 28, 1667, John Marshall sold Cornelius Scully fo r 2000 lbs. tobacco, 400 acres lying on Beaver Dam Swap bou ght of John Neville.

On February 8, 1671, Arthur Skinner sold the 225 acres boug ht from John Neville and wife Elizabeth.

On February 21, 1683/4 John Neville with William Godwin, ap praised the estate of John Gardner.

On December 9, 1680, John Neville and Richard Reynolds wer e sureties on the bond of Anne Mecom, relict of Neale Mecom.

On May 20, 1690, John Neville with William Godwin and Willi am West, appraised the estate of Alexander Chestnut.

John Neville of Nansemond sold land on the Western Branc h in Isle of Wight
to John Johnson in 1698. The date of his death is not kno wn as the Nansemond
records are destroyed. Benjamin Neville, their son, held 4 75 acres in
Nansemond in 1704. A Benjamin Neville made his will in Nor th Carolina and
many of the name in that state are probably descended fro m Benjamin and
Roger
Neville.

He married ELIZABETH SKINNER (Source: TITLE, 351 Central Park Place Brentwood, CA. 94513 925-516-4976.) Abt. 1699, daughter of ARTHUR SKINNER and LYDIA. She was born Abt. 1666 in Nansemond County, Virginia (Later Perquimans County, North Carolina 1689), and died September 21, 1747 in Isle Of Wight County, Virginia Formed 1634.

Isle of Wight County Deed Book 13, p 325: December 24 , 1775....John Bullock and Sarah, his wife, of County Perqu imens, Province of North Carolina, sell to Thomas Newby Jr. , of Isle of Wight County, near the head of the Western Bra nch of Nansemond River....which land was given and devise d by Roger Nevill to his daughter Rachel Nevill who interma rried with William Bullock, father of the aforementioned Jo hn Bullock, and who being the only male descendant of the s aid William Bullock and Rachel, his wife, etc....Recorded J anuary 4, 1776.

Indenture dated August 7, 1672 between John Seward of Brist ol Merchant sell to another merchant in Bristol all of Joh n Sewards Dividend of land "Levy Neck" in the whole paten t of Warwick squeak. Friends listed : Roger Nevil

Evidently both David Trimble and John B. Boddie do not sho w Roger as a son of William or inconclusive. Trimble on p . 125 of "American Origins" states:
"He (William Nevill) died before 1665, and his widow probab ly married Arthur Skinner, since on April 25, 1665, his so n Roger Nevill sold his interest in William's land to his " father in law", Arthur Skinner (Trimble interprets "fathe r in law" as "Step father" (oh!...you betchum red rider, an other assumption)
