John' s will: (1) grandson Elisha Lawrence Ballard, the home plan tation, the land in Southampton County received in his fath er's will, half a patent in Southampton County, 2 slaves, s till, worm, featherbed, and furnishings; (2) nephew John La wrence , half a patent in Southampton County; (3) granddaug hter Honour Ballard, slave, feather bed and furnishings, an d Ł20 in cash; (4) granddaughter Ann Ballard, ditto; (5) da ughter Ann Ballard and her husband Elisha Ballard who is t o act as executor, 2 slaves and the rest of the estate. On 25 February 1739/40, John Lawrence assisted John Bowin a nd William Fowler in appraising the estate of William Brads haw. On 25 June 1744, John, John Johnson, and William Fowle r appraised the estate of James Tullaugh. On 9 September 17 49, John and William Lawrence and William Edmonds appraise d Fowler's estate. On 6 August 1752, John Lawrence , Jaco b Butler, and James Bryant appraised the estate of Willia m Daughtry. On 5 June, 1755, John and William Lawrence an d John Darden appraised the estate of John Daughtry.
