Patience McKinne, daughter of Barnaby McKinne and Mary Exum , his wife was born
about 1715. Her estate, from her father who died 1759, wa s given her Nov.
18th, 1760 and the proceeding recorded in North Carolina Co lonial and State Records, Vol.
6, pp. 383-384

She married in Halifax, North Carolina, 1730, recorded in N orth Carolina Colonial and State Records
Book 2, p. 317 and 519, Joseph Lane, Jr. born 1710, d. 177 4, son of Joseph Lane
who lived in Jamestown, Virginia before moving to North Car olina. In 1727 Joseph Lane Sr.,
with Major Barnabas McKinne and others, was elected a vestr yman of the N.West
Parish of Bertie North Carolina. Records Vol. 25, p. 210 . In Vol. 5, p. 982 "The
Executors of Joseph Lane, former sheriff of Edgecombe Count y , North Carolina was allowed 16
pounds as his salary for the years 1751 and 1752, he havin g fully accounted
with Mr. Haywood, former treasurer, and paid all taxes fo r these years, as
also 40 shillings for summoning the court for Tryall of a n egroe for felony
and executing said negroe and as by account lodg'd with you r committee 18
pounds - Nov 27th, 1758." Joseph Lane Sr., born 1665, d 1 758, it is supposed
was the son of Jo. Lane, born in England 1631, son of Rich ard born 1597 and Alice
b. 1605, sailed for Virginia 1635-36. "License to go beyon d the seas April 16th
1635: these parties hereafter expressed are to be transport ed to the Island
Providence, embarked in ye 'Expectation' Corneilius Bellin ger, master, having
taken the oath of Allegience and Supremacie as likewise bei ng conformable to
the church of England whereof they brought their testamoni e from the minister
and justices of Peace of their Abodes: Alice Lane, age 30 ; Jo Lane, age 4:
