Who wrote the entry has not been deter mined yet, but I was fortunate and salvaged alot of old pap ers from the homeplace with lots of samples of writing. May be we will be able to tell.T

Joseph Pitman (Revolutionary War Pension Application S7314 , Burke Co NC) married Sarah Harris, daughter of John and A nn Harris of Granville County, North Carolina In his a pplication, Joseph states that he enlisted in Granville Cou nty. John Harris, father-in-law of Joseph Pitman, had give n Joseph land on Aaron's Creek (that later fell in Person C ounty; Caswell County Deed G:248). Person County was forme d in 1791 from Caswell, which was formed in 1777 from Orang e County. Orange County was formed in 1752 from Johnston, B laden and Granville Counties. In 1760, Edgecombe and Granvi lle Counties shared a common border. In 1805, Joseph Pitma n appears for the last time on the Person County tax list . On 25 Aug 1806, Joseph sells two parcels of Person Count y land, one to his wife's (Sarah's) sister's husband, Joh n Wilkerson (Person County Deed D:17) and one to Sarah' s brother, Overton Harris (Person County Deed D:59).
