Robert Lawson is descended from Durham County, England, coalminers dating back to one Ralph Lawson of Penshaw parish in the 18th century. Reuben Lightfoot Lawson emigrated to the U.S. in about 1858 and died in 1909 in Terra Alta, Preston County, West Virginia. His numerous descendents lived in Preston and surrounding counties as well as western Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Other lines of family trace their roots from John Gilmour Murrie from Lanarkshire, Scotland; Gustav Naedele, who came from Wurttenberg, Germany, to Hardy County, West Virginia by the 1850s; Sarah Frye, who may be descended from a family with roots in colonial America.
Also of interest to me would be finding ties to 1860s German immigrants Johann Frederick Flath and Henry Kuever, Lutheran ministers who served around 1900 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the family of Nellie Tall (ties with DeMarr family, most likely of Irish ancestry, who lived in Baltimore, Md. in late 19th century.
Donna (Bourdon) Lawson is descended from Bourdo family, which came probably from Canada to Toledo, Ohio, in mid 19th century; Elijah Case family of Northern California in the later 1800s; and the Alderson family, which traces its roots to New Jersey Baptist minister John Alderson, who arrived in America about 1719.
Part of Donna's ancestry goes back to the Mayflower, apparently.
A multi-great grandfather, leading in line to her great-great-grandfather Elam Covington, was one Joseph Billington, who sailed on the Mayflower and was hanged in Plymouth in 1630, perhaps the first colonist to be executed in New England.
Elam Covington is listed as having come to California in 1849 by the California Society of Pioneers.
