* Scott Lawson Family*

Updated March 23, 2006

From talking to relatives, my first impression was that the Lawson's had always lived in or around the Falkland area. After visits to the National Registrars House in Edinburgh this was confirmed. I can trace family as far back as 1700 but I would guess they have been in Falkland even longer than that.

I have always felt a certain "draw" to Falkland. The village is a beautiful place to live and the perfect place to raise a family. The saying "it's in the blood" couldn't be more true when it comes to the Lawson's and Falkland.

Down through the generations common themes can be followed where names have been handed on in remembrance of close relatives. Employment also seems to follow a common thread with children following in their fathers footsteps.

A certain sadness can be felt looking through the records, finding that your ancestors died often quite young and sometimes of painful diseases which could now be treated quite easily. This along with finding that most of them could not read or write, having to sign birth and marriage certificates with a 'x', kept me interested when people became more difficult to trace.

I have found this experience very interesting and I hope that reading this account of the past is interesting for you also.

Why not drop me an e-mail if you have any information or comments:
