My name is Stephen Thomas Lawton. I publish a family newsletter known as Lawton Ledger. Lawton Ledger is a color-illustrated family magazine, which focuses on Lawton's all over the world. It's not designed to provide you with just names and dates, it contains stories and history about Lawton's, average Lawton's, famous Lawton's, Lawton's that have shaped our nation, up and coming Lawton events, Lawton medical histories, Lawton pictures and more. Lawton Ledger is focused on your Lawton heritage. Our cause is to promote, exchange and share Lawton information.Do you wonder about the history of the Lawton family and when our ancestors arrived in America? Do you know about the first settlements in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and South Carolina? Do you know about the Lawton roots in England dating back to the medieval times? Do you wonder what the Lawton's are up to today? If you don't know about your Lawton ancestry, you may be missing out on a major part of your life. The Lawton Ledger is a publication for all Lawtons, and we shall continue to pursue our goals of distribution North, South, East, and West, over land, and over seas. We are a huge, wonderful, extended family, all related, and it's just a matter of how far back must you go to find the missing link. Everyone may expect to see more of his or her Lawton line in future issues. Our Lawton computer database now contains over 21,000 relatives and grows daily. Thanks to our many cousins in the States and abroad, the history and ancestry of the Lawton family continues to be preserved and presented to me. Believe me, there are some real expert genealogists in the Lawton family and we welcome any information you may be willing to provide. When we all put our information together it tends to become cohesive. My focus has been on Thomas╣ and George╣ Lawton, two of our earliest Lawton emigrants to America (circa 1638), as well as John╣ Lawton of Suffield, Captain William╣ Lawton of South Carolina, Thomas╣ Laughton of Lynn, MA., and including extensive research on many other Lawton related lines. Some of our ancestry has been traced back to about 1499 in England and some earlier. However records of a Lawton Manorial family go back to the days of King Edward III (1327-1377) and further researches has unveiled records of the Lawton family as far back as 1066 and are recorded in the Doomsday book. A medieval tower still stands at Church Lawton in Cheshire, England. Our organization, set up entirely non-profit, has an annual membership fee of $20 to cover the printing and mailing cost of our publication. Each color illustrated Lawton Ledger is published quarterly at twenty pages plus per issue. The next scheduled issue of Lawton Ledger is set for release on or about the 15 of June, September, December, or March, with a quarterly continuation. Membership dues are from June until the following March inclusive. All published back issues are available as yearly sets. Thank you for taking the time to explore this brief introduction into your past. To subscribe to Lawton Ledger and receive future issues please contact me.
