As of this date, February 28, 2000, I announce that I am a rank amateur in the realm of genealogy. I am finding that I know very little of my immediate ancestors and even less about getting information about them.
My father was Frank Charles Leavitt and was born in Denver, Colorado in 1898. He married my mother Esther Amelia Berg. His father was named Julius Lewis Leavitt. Julius immigrated with his wife Eva (Zlotnitski) Leavitt in the late 1800's from Germany. There were five siblings born to them.
My mother’s Father was named John who was born (I think) in or near Vaasa, Finland. He married Edla (maiden name unknown) Who also was from the same area. They also immigrated in the late 1800's although its my understanding they did not come at the same time. There were seven siblings born to them.
Thus far I have been able to find only my father in any of the data bases and that in the SSA death register. I have not been able to locate any information which clearly relates to any of the individuals mentioned - including myself. It makes me wonder just how accurate and useful any of the data available may be.
Update: My father's brothers were Harry and Lewis, His sisters were Claire MacDowell and Rose Usher. My Mother's brothers were Ernest, Walfred, and Harold. Her sisters were Mary Palmquist, Edith Mcdonald, and Elsie Johnson.
I’ll appreciate and information and/or assistance. I’ll be happy to share any that I have.
