Patrick Reynolds was in the 96th NY Infantry Company G and enlisted in
October 1861. His pension record is available at the National Archives for
$10. It takes about 6 weeks or so and usually lists a lot of genealogical
data and biographical stuff

REYNOLDS, Joseph W.
It is our painful duty to record the death of JOSEPH W. REYNOLDS, Esquire, late editor of the Essex Co. Republican; which occurred, at his residence in Keeseville, on Friday morning last, the 27th December, 1861. A few weeks since, Mr. Reynolds determined to attempt a trip to Europe, for the purpose of recruiting his failing health; but, on reaching New York, was obliged to give up the proposed journey; and returned to his home, as the sad result has proved, to linger but a few days among his friends, ere his earthly career closed forever. Mr. Reynolds was an able journalist, an excellent citizen and a christian gentleman. In the loss of such a man, the public earnestly sympathize with the sorrow of the bereaved family. Fort Covington, NY, Franklin County
THIS county was formed from Clinton, March 11, 1808, and named in honor of Benjamin Franklin. A small portion was annexed to Essex co. March 22, 1822. It contains an area of 1,718 sq. mi., and is centrally distant 130 mi. from Albany. It lies upon the northern frontier, between St. Lawrence and Clinton counties. Its surface is mostly level in the N., undulating and hilly in the center, and broken and mountainous in the s. The Au Sable Mts. occupy the S. E. portions; Mt. Seward, 5,100 feet above tide, is the highest peak. There are several other elevated peaks; but their heights have never been ascertained by actual measurement. The plateau of the central and the valleys of the s. part of the co. have an elevation of about 1,600 feet above tide. The N. W. corner, including the townships of Bombay, Fort Covington, Westville, and portions of Constable and Moira, is underlaid by calciferous sandstone. The soil upon this rock is generally a heavy clay. Next s. of this region is a belt about 8 mi. wide, extending N. E. and S. W., underlaid by Potsdam sandstone. A strip next to the calciferous sandstone, about 4 mi. wide, has a sandy soil, and the remainder a fine fertile loam, mixed with clay. The underlying rock in the central and s. portions of the co. is gneiss; and the soil is of a light, sandy nature, nearly unfit for cultivation. Upon approaching the mountainous region toward the s. the soil becomes more and more sterile, and large tracts are valuable only for their timber and iron ore. Bog iron ore is found in considerable quantities along the line of junction of the calciferous and Potsdam sandstones, and in times past it has been quite extensively used in the manufacture of bar iron.

Hello,

Your two emails arrived but the family information you mentioned
didn't??

There is a strong indication that Mary & the son-in-law were related
although I don't have proof of this. There is a Patrick Reynolds in the
household of Hugh Reynolds & Catherine in the 1850 census of Massena who
is 15 yrs old. This would make him the age of Patrick who married Ann
Morehead. And, I think there was a relationship between your Mary to the
Hugh Reynolds, perhaps siblings????

I have the cemetery listings for Moira Township and I see your
Morehead & Reynolds. I have also copied the 1876 Beers Landowners map of
Moira in case you don't have it. I see some Reynolds owners but I didn't
look over the entire map. I leave that up to you. I am in the process of
copying and will get it in the mail, perhaps this week. With Holiday
shopping and other things going on around here, sometimes it takes time.

Dear Larry,

Thanks for your enquiry about my 1854 and 1901 books. Mooreheads and
Reynolds' are certainly mentioned in Clonbroney Parish in both books, and
although many Kennedys are mentioned none seem to be in Clonbroney Parish.
The closest name to Brill I have come across is Britt / Brett none of whom
were recorded in Clonbroney Parish.

I am enclosing full details on the Mooreheads / Reynolds' / Kennedys as
recorded in the three main 19th Century genealogical resources i.e. the
1901 Census, 1854 Griffith's Primary Valuation and 1825 Tithe Applotment
Books (I hope to produce a County-wide Index similar to the 1901 and 1854
indexes I have already produced late in 1999) for your information. (I
have underlined those recorded in both of my books, as to record all
details would have resulted in an unwieldy publication). Both books
contain a very useful one inch to one mile Map of County Longford showing
all 893 constituent Townlands in County Longford. I wonder is the Robert

Andrew Reynolds of Chicopee Falls, Mass., was called to Brushton on account of the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. P. Reynolds. He arrived Monday night and his mother passed away Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock, after a long and painful illness. Two other sons and one daughter arrived from away Wednesday. The funeral was held from St. Mary's church on Thursday morning, conducted by Rev. Father Mahoney.

The Will of Ann (Morehead) Reynolds:

I, Ann Reynolds of Brushton, Franklin County, New York, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament:

First: I direct All my lawful debts to be paid.

Second: All the residue and remainder of my property of every name and nature, after my debts are paid, I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter Catharine Reynolds, absolutely.

Third: I herby appoint my said daughter Catharine Reynolds sole executrix and my son Hugh Reynolds executor of this my Last Will and Testament, giving them full power to sell and convey all said real estate.

In Witness whereof I have set my hand this 15th day of August 1910. Ann Reynolds

The above instrument was at the time it bears date, signed by the testatrix Ann Reynolds, in our presence, she at same time declared it to be her Last Will and Testament, and requested us, to sign our names to the same as witnesses, which we do in her presence and in the presence of each other.
