The Adkins home place, located on Shanty Branch, Williams Creek, Carter County, Kentucky. The house was built by Wiser Adkins in 1897, out of one popular tree that grew in pickle hallow. The tree was seven feet in diameter at the base, and over two hundred feet tall. The only material that was purchased were the windows, nails and two doors.
