| Ingebret Holgersen of the Are farm was born on the island of Bokn in the fjords of Rogaland county, Norway. He married Elen Gurina Olsdatter of the Kyle farm of Stjernero, Rogaland, Norway. In 1871, they immigrated to America with their infant daughter Berta Helene. They settled in Rochelle, Lee County, Illinois. They changed their names to Albert, Julia and Helen Arre. Their son Ole was the first Arre born in America. He was born in Illinois some time between 1871 and 1873. Different sources give conflicting birth dates. Ole married Alice Francelia Sanford on October 23, 1906 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They had four children. 1. Arthur Wallace Arre, b. September 12, 1907, Howard, Miner, South Dakota; d. September 18, 1997, Fargo, Cass, North Dakota. 2. Edmund Albert Arre, b. October 18, 1909, Howard, Miner, South Dakota; d. January 1975, Eugene, Lane, Oregon. 3. Helen Grace Arre, b. July 28, 1913, Ulen, Clay, Minnesota. 4. Oscar Claude Arre, b. December 23, 1915, Ulen, Clay, Minnesota; d. August 23, 1918, Ulen, Clay, Minnesota. |
