       10. Ceaphus3 Bond (John2, John1) was born 1842, and died Abt. 1906 in Lamar County, Purvis, MS. He married (1) Eliza Ann Redmond January 10, 1861 in Harrison County, Mississippi, daughter of George Redmond and Ailsey Ainsworth. He married (2) Frances Redmond 1879 in Perry County, MS, daughter of George Redmond and Ailsey Ainsworth.

Notes for Ceaphus Bond:

Seaphus Bond was born in 1842, the second of three sons born to col. John Bond, Jr. and Sarah Ann Terrell Sargent (or Largent) Bond. Sarah Ann was the third wife of John Bond, Jr.

Different records show Seaphus using various derivaties of the name Seaford. He is found in the records as Seaford,Seaborn, Josephus, S., Seaphus and Cephas.

Seaphus marrie first Eliza redmond and second Frances Azilene (Lennie) Redmond; both daughters of Georgw W. and Ailsey Canzada (Ainsworth) Redmond. Seapus was married to Eliza on 10 Jan. 1861 in Harrison County, Mississippi. She died about 1875 (probably from childbirth- - or some say from a spider bite). He married Lennie in 1879 in Perry County, Mississippi.

Records indicate that Seaphus enlisted as a Confederate soldier on 8 Oct. 1861 at Pass Christian, Mississippi. He was wounded and taken prisoner of war at Franklin, Tennessee on 14 Dec. 1864. He was transferred from Franklin, Tennessee to Louisville, Kentucky, and from Louisville, Kentucky to Camp Chase, Ohio. Next Seaphus was transferred from Camp Chase, Ohio, to Point Lookout, Maryland and released on 9 June 1865, after taking the oath of Allegiance to the United States Government. All Confederate soldiers were considered to be fighting against the U.S. Government.

On 14 June 1865, Seaphus was sent from the Provost Marshal General, Washington, D. C. to Harrison County, Mississippi. Records indicate that transportation was furnished to Harrison County, Mississippi. Family legend states that the money was not provided and that Seaphus walked (or managed for horseback transportation) the entire way home.

Seaphus never recovered from the Civil War wounds and remained in poor health; taking his life with a shotgun in about 1906. Seaphus's widow ( Lennie) applied for a widow's pension in 1916 and stated on the application that Seaphus had been dead about 10 years.

Seaphus Bond is buried in the Coletown Cemetery near Purvis, Mississippi in Lamar County. He has a Civil War marker and the name is shown as Ceaphus Bond. Lennie is buried beside him and several of their children and grandchildren are buried near them in this cemetery.
