Early 1800's - Land records reveal that he, along with his father (Henry Lee Sr) and perhaps several brothers, migrated from Maryland.       They settled for a time on and along Fisherman's Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. This same land was later in York       County, South Carolina because of a change in the state's boundary line.

1814 - May 31, land purchase (Deed Book K, pg 73)

Samuel later moved to Gwinette County , Georgia and then to Henry County, Georgia.

1818 - many of the family move to Georgia. Henry, Edward, James and Samuel are listed in the 1820 Census of Gwinette County, Georgia.       Church and county records indicate some of their activities.

Aft 1820 - Samuel sold land in Butts County, Georgia to his father (Henry Lee, Sr) (Deed Book A, pg 172-173)

In 1821 he drew land in Henry County, Georgia in the 1821 Georgia Land Lottery

By 1830 Samuel had moved to Henry County, Georgia, on land along Line Creek, just south of the present boundary line of Clayton County.

Samuel Lee owned and operated a grist mill and lumber. Owned several lots of land (each lot consisted of about 200 acres) in Henry County, Georgia.

Samuel is buried at Noah's Ark Church Cemetery, Clayton County, Georgia. Tombstone Records of Noah's Ark Cemetery - Samuel Lee died April 12, 1871 (no other dates on stone); on grave next to him the marker is of field stone with the name "Jane" (no dates) and on Samuel's other side is a grave with field stone marker with only the name "Jonathan" on it (no dates) - Mrs. MT Gregory, Williamsburg Lane, Athens, CA 30605 - Descendant of Samuel Lee

Anna Swearingin is listed as his wife. In the estate settlement and also in Civil War claim, Catherine Swearingin is named as Samuel Lee's wife. Also there is a marriage contract dated 15 April 1861 between Catherine Swearingin and Samuel Lee. Some researchers think that Anna Swearingin was a housekeeper living in the Lee household at the time of 1860 census and that Catherine was a daughter or sister.

Jane Scarlett is buried at Noah's Ark Church Cemetery, Clayton, Georgia.
