Admitted to Western State Hospital for the Insane, Steilacoom, WA. on May 6, 1924. Taken into custody by King County Deputy Sheriff; Sherwood F. Gorham, on May 02, 1924. Attending physicians; Drs. D.A. Nicholson and Montgomery Russell. Commitment (Non-Jury Trial). Presiding Judge; the Honorable King Dykeman, King County Superior Court. Place of residence before, commitment, Hylebos, WA., King County. He was paroled June 4, 1924 and discharged on September 24, 1924. Reasons given for commitment was listed as homicidal. Hospital Number 13697. Superior Court Number for King County; #2908.
John was back in King County Superior Court on November 14, 1927 for Commitment (Non-Jury Trial) to Western State Hospital, This time by his brother, Thomas Turner and Drs. D.A. Nicholson and Walter Johnson. King County case #4564. Judge was the Honorable Everett Smith. Age at time of commitment was stated at at 63. He was admitted November 15, 1927. He died while a patient at Western State Hospital on January 7, 1941. Reason for the commitment was given as having delusions with persecutory ideas. John claims that "bootleggers" continued to bother him at home, and he hears them talking about him. They take advantage of him and he is afraid of them and wants protection from them. At the time of death, he was completely blind and cause of death was listed as Pulmonary Tuberculosis (less than two years duration.)
