I am researching the Kaufman family from Korczyna, Poland. For years the family lived in this small shetl and now not even one member of the family lives in Poland. I am Aby/Avi Lehrer and am one of four surviving grandchildren of Abraham Kaufman. The others are my two sisters, Vivien Shebson and Shuli Whitefield and my cousin Nechama Felheimer. The earliest "Kaufman" that I can trace was born in 1830. His name (like many of his descendants) was Samuel Leib Kaufman. He was married to Gitla Frisch also born about 1830. They were our great great grandparents. But I can trace many more ancestors on other branches, e.g. the parents of Chaye Gleicher - our grandmother who died at age 32 in 1915. I cn also trace many ancestors of Dina Rab, one of our great grandmothers. I am sure that I could find more information if we employ a researcher in Poland. And if you can help, all the better. Any information would be appreciated. |
