1. AMOS4 DICKEN (JOHN3, ISAAC HENRY2, CHRISTOPHER1)1,2 was born 17503, and died April 08, 18233. He married DORCAS D. HENDRIX4,5,6, daughter of ADAM MILLER HENDRIX. She died 18277.

"Amos Dicken, born 1744 died 1823. Rev. War Service; will probated in Southampton Township, Bedford County, Pa on April 7, 1823.
1777-1778 enlisted in Capt John Miller's Company G, Third Company, 6th Regiment. Re-enlisted again in 1782 in the same company, which was formed at Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pa., with a notation that they came from Cumberland Valley, Bedford County, Pa. Assumed brothers THOMAS and JOHN DICKEN, were also on the musterroll, now on display at the York Historical Museum at York PA. Amos, Thomas and John were neighbors in Cumberland Valley Township and took up land together. The name in Pa Archives is spelled DICKIN but they signed in as DICKEN.
April 20, 1779, Amos Dicken purchased 110 acres of land on the North Branch of the Potomac River, Hampshire County VA (now WV) residence given as Washington County, Maryland, at time of purchase. There is no record of Amos other than this in the Hampshire County Court House.
In 1783 Amos Dicken paid tax on 100 acres, 2 horses, 3 cows, and 2 sheep in Cumberland Valley Township, Bedford County, Pa.
May 10, 1786, Amos and his son Stephen filed on 200 acres known as "FRIENDSHIP" Cumberland Valley Township.
In 1806 he received appointment as Justice of Peace in Cumberland Valley Township.
1810 and 1820 census shows him in Southampton Township, Bedford County. During this time there are numerous land transactions.
The AMOS DICKEN "will" was probated April 7, 1823 at Bedford County Court House, with his sons Stephen and Isaac administrators."
