the following men applied through their attorneys for a writ of habas corpus alleging that though indicted for murder in the first degree the evidence in the Applegate trial proved facts enough to entitle them to
bail.

Andy Adams at once produced the necessary bail and was discharged. Jos. Hyde found bail and was also discharged and the others were remanded to the sheriff and the sheriff was ordered to discharge them when sufficient bail was met.

Sam Preston, Sr. pleaded guilty this morning to assault and an unlawful assembly and was fined twelve dollars and fifty cents in each case and required to give bond and testify that he would keep the peace and be of good behavior.
W.A. Roberts, another Bald Knobber, was fined a like sum for each case and required to give a similar bond.

Wm. Wilhite who was committed to jail for the non payment of a fine and costs for exhibiting deadly weapons in a rude and angry manner, it appearing that the defendant is subject to epilepsy and was having hard fits every few minutes.

J.H. Shipman is on trial today for felonious assault on Clint Abbott, at Swanville on the 21st
of August 1886. Verdict not yet rendered. This is not a Bald Knob case.

Obituary for Ancil Marion Melton;
Ancil Marion Melton's parents James Madison and Mary Jane Melton, moved from Tennessee to Christian County, near Linden, where Ancil was born on December 15, 1855. He spent his life in this County, and died February 14, 1941, at the age of 85 years.
He was married to Abigale Landers, and two children were born to them, Mrs. Myrtle Kouch of Springfield and a son who died in infancy.
Later he was married to Oma Arterberry. Of their three children, Ida Hooting and Ben Melton, both of Ontario, California, survive. Another daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hensen, preceded him in death four years ago. Both his first and second wife preceded him in death.
Then on June 30, 1895, he was married to Laura Neoma Plank. To them was born one daughter, Mrs. Ellis Kissee, of Ozark.
Besides his widow and children, he is survived by three brothers, Thomas Dillard of Selmore, Joseph E. of Spokane, in John D. of Ontario, California.
Many years ago he professed faith in his Savior in united with the Christian Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 16th, at the residents. Burial was in the Glenn Cemetery under the direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.
