Fielding Bilyeu - (b. 1842) (UNION) Served in Jacob Capps' (later his brother-in-law) company of the Missouri Home Guard, at which time he was 19 years old.He was later a corporal in Company E of the 33rd Missouri Infantry.Acoording to family story, he was a bugler and had his front tooth pulled so he could blow the bugle.Fielding applied for pension.
Silas Capps - (b. 1818) (UNION) Fielding's father-in-law.He also served in Jacob Capps' (his son) company of the Missouri Home Guard.He died of ascites on a federal hospital steamship in St. Louis after serving elsewhere as a private.

Notes for AUGUSTIEN BILYEU: Eldon Advertiser Jan. 18, 1951 MRS. JOHN WALLACE DIES AFTER STROKE Mrs. John F. Wallace of Enon suffered a paralytic stroke January 5 and died at Humphrey's Hospital in Tuscumbia, January 7, 1951. Augusta Bilyeu, daughter of Henry and Mary Capps Bilyeu, was born May 3, 1871, in Miller County, near Capps.She grew to womanhood there and at the age of 15 years was married to John F. Wallace and they were the parents of twelve children. One daughter, Pearl, and Mr. Wallace preceded her in death.Mr. and Mrs. Wallace lived near Brumley until 1939 when they moved to Moniteau county, near Enon.After the death of Mr.Wallace ten years ago, Mrs. Wallace made her home with her children. The eleven members of the family surviving are Ollie Bowlin of Bagnell; Gertrude Ramsey, Wichita, Kansas;Cora Wilson, Atchison, Kansas;Eunice Wright, Kirkwood, Mo.;Roy Wallace of Marshalltown, Ia.;Fred, of Wichita, Kansas;Jesse of St. Louis:Otto of Enon; and Wesley of Eaton, Colo.All were present for the funeral except two sons, Willard and Wesley. There are twenty-four grandchildren, one of whom, Earl Dinwiddie, lives at Aurora Springs.A brother, Wesley Bilyeu, preceded her in death.A half-brother, Frank Ramsey, of Kaiser, and three sisters, Nellie Wall of Clarksburg, Mo., Jane Bittle of Olean, and Myrtle Duncan of Kansas City, survive.A sister, Mrs. Ora Barnett, preceded her in death. Early in life, Mrs. Wallace became a member of the Christian Church at Freedom. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, and burial was made in the New Hope cemetery. |

WICKHAM,78, RETIRED FARMER DIES IN HOSPITAL Funeral services were held Sunday for Eddie Irvin Wickham 78, of ruralTuscumbia, who died last Thursday at HumphreysHospital in Tuscumbia. A son of Nelson R. and Marzilla Grosvenor Wickham, he was born in Miller County near St. Elizabeth on January 17, 1886. On Nov. 28, 1906, Mr. Wickham married the former Clara Bilyeu.They were the parents of 11 children.Mrs. Wickham died on May 10, 1948.Also preceding Mr. Wickham in death were a son, a brother, a half-brother, a sister and four half-sisters. Mr. Wickham was a retired farmer and former employee of a steel foundry in Granite City, Ill., and had also worked on a river boat located at the Capps community. He was a member of the Humphreys Creek Christian Church and the Woodman's lodge. Surviving are seven sons, William of Oakland, Calif., Sterling of Rock falls, Ill., Otto, Kermit, Donald, and Curtis, all of Granite City and Kellus of Tuscumbia; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Cross of Tuscumbia, Mrs. Grace Hiller of LaSalle, Colo., and Mrs. Florence Keilbach of Granite City. Four brothers, John of St. Elizabeth, Belva and Claude, both of Granite City and Elde of Eldon; 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The Rev. Mark Sooter officiated at the services at 2 p. m. at the church.Burial was in the Wickham cemetery under direction of Scrivner-Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. |
