2. PIERRE FRANCOIS AUGUSTIN² FRUGE (JEAN¹)² was born 17 Oct 1724 in Chaney Fruger Friget, France ³, and died 05 Aug 1784 in Opelousas Prairie, St Landry, La. He married CATHERINE DE MOULIN DIT DUPLANTIER³ 17 Jun 1754 in St Charles Baromeo (Little Red Church), daughter of PIERRE DUPLANTIER and MARIE GAIREN. She was born 1721 in Saintonge Province, France³, and died 17 Dec 1786 in Opelousas Prairie, St Landry, La.

Notes for PIERRE FRANCOIS AUGUSTIN FRUGE:
Just before the Declaration of Independence by the American colonies, the Fruge family settled in Prairie Fakaitaic about seventeen miles west of Opelousas, Louisiana. Pierre Francois was the head of family. Four of his and Catherine DeMoulin Duplantier's children were baptized at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Pointe Coupee in the period between 1 Dec 1759 and 31 Jan 1768, and inasmuch as St. Landry Catholic Church at Opelousas was established in 1766, it is logical to assume that the other sons were likewise baptised in Pointe Coupee or that the Opelousas records were lost. Records vary on his name, Pierre mostly, but at times Pierre Francois. The Old Cattle Brand Book records his name as Francois.
