 Includes NotesNotes for Blaise Lejeune:
Blaise LeJeune upon arrival in Iberville from Natchitoches in 1770 the Lejeunes and honore Trahan and his wife settled there for an unknown period of time. The only records of th4eir being there come in connection with Blaise Lejeune who is recorded as having received a grant of land in the year 1772
" a tract of land situated on the west side of the river Mississippi in the county of Iberville, containing five arpents and two loise in front and forty arpents in depth...This land was surveyed by Don Louis Andry, in the year 1772, in favor of Blas Lejeune, who botained a complete grant for the same in 1774 from Governor Unzaga."
Blaise was twenty-two years of age when he acquired his land grant in 1772. Also living in the area at that time was the amily of Pierre Breaux and his wife Marguerite Goterot who were themselves Acadian refugees. Among the members of the family was a daughter, Marie Joseph, the sixth of seven children born to Pierre and Marguerite in Acadia.: Notes attributed to James M. Vidrene in his work in familytreemaker @ Genealogy.com.

Apparantly Blaise was not happy in the Iberville area, and sometime prior to 1777 the family moved to the Opelousas Post area where they are shown that year with two children: Blaise, Jr age 4 and Joseph, age 1. It is not known if Blaise, Jr. made the trip to the Opelousas Post with his brothers and sister.however Marguerite and Joseph, along with their uncle Honore Trahan are shown living in close proximity to Blaise, Sr. on that census.

Blaise acquired a tract of land on Bayou Carencro, south of present day Sunset, where the family is believed to have settled. On July 23, 1783, Blaise sold a portion of this property to his brother Joseph Lejeune. Around 1790, perhaps because he felt that the Bayou Carencro area was overcrowded or possibly because additional land to expand was not available, Blaise dedided to move farther west. This move westward was giant step for Blaise and his famiy, putting them in the very forefront of the westward migration.

The growing family, now numbering eight children, settled north of Bayou Plaquemine Brulee about a mile southeast of the present day community of Richard. On contemporary maps a stream bearing the name Blaise Lejeune Bayou or Blaise Lejeune Gulley still bears testament to this pioneer settler. The original grant which Blaise received, consisting of 640. 54 acres, is now described as Section 64 in Township 7 South-Range 2 East. After Blaise's death the property was acquired by his eldest son Blaise, Jr. Another of Blaise's sons, Joseph, acquired a large tract of land consisting of 575.04 acres adjoining that of Blaise, Jr and being section 41 of the previously described Township and Range. By the early 1800's Blaise Lejeune and Marie-Joseph Breaux's descendents has migrated from the settlement to Bayou Plaquemine Brulee to what is now St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline Parishes. Today their descendents, who number into the many thousands, are found over much of Louisiana and across the United States.
