Joseph is the first Lejeune to translate his surname to "Young", and thus is the progenitor of all the Louisiana Youngs. Source: The Lejeunes of Acadia, and the Youngs of SW La. by John Young.

Owned over 20 slaves and had become a prosperous plantyer and cattleman. There were two long Donations Reorded, one by Joseph at his death, and one a short time later, Sept 20, 1821 by his deceased wife's estate detailing their property and conveyances to the eleven of their children who had reached maturity.
