The funeral for prominent Belleville resident Leslie Gilbert Lennox of 159 Bleecker Ave., was held from the Thompson Memorial Chapel, 38 Everett St to Christ Church where service was held.

Ven. John Neal, Rev. Jack, Fletcher and Rev. Andrew Chisholm assisted in officiating for the service.

Mr. Lennox, 84, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, in Belleville General Hospital.

Born and educated in Belleville, he was a son of the late Henry Austin and Margaret (Ward) Lennox.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Florence Carr, well-known local artist, are daughter Bonnie Coldham of Oakville and several nieces and nephews, also sisters-in-law Helen and Alda Lennox.

Besides his parents, he- was predeceased by brothers Wilfred, Stanley, Allan and Raymond.

Mr. Lennox had retired in 1988 as insurance broker for McDougall Insurance following a business career with several major local companies including cost accountant at Stewart-Wamer, partner in C.D. Crosby Real Estate and Insurance and Burrows and Morgan Insurance.

He was a past master and Mason of Eureka Lodge 283; a member of the Belleville Historical Society; a past president of the Canadian Cancer Society local branch; past president of Industrial Cost Accountants Society; secretary-treasurer of the Bay of Quinte Country Club; secretary and treasurer of the Masonic Temple Corporation; member of Presto Music Club and other musical groups.

He had studied violin in Vienna in the 1930s, loved music, and was very active in the former Community Concerts organization in Belleville, also active in sports - golf, tennis, bowling, loved travel and camping.

Violinist Joachim Reimann played the "Thais" meditation by Massenet during the service and Rev. Jack Fletcher gave the eulogy.

Pallbearers were Rod Follwell, George Duffield, Gordon Santon, Ken Wheeler, Jim Wiggins and Jack Morgan. Honorary bearers. were Mayor Ross McDougall, Bill Childs, Lloyd White, Dr. Jim Loudon, Mary Lynne Morgan, Ray Gunsolus, Joan Taylor and Robert Taylor.

Cremation followed the, servIce.
